The City of Takoma Park is seeking a full-time Coordinator to help organize and orchestrate the interactions of the Housing and Community Development (HCD) Department.
The Coordinator will provide support for HCD's five (5) divisions:
Housing, Planning & Development Services, Economic Development, Arts & Humanities, and Code Enforcement.
The position is responsible for coordinating interdepartmental operations around fields such as account management, website maintenance and updates, resident and client intake, and more.
Typical Duties include:
Managing the Department's accounts payable and requisition request process; Under the direction of the HCD Director, compiling and keeping records of departmental policies and procedures; Overseeing Department and City procurement and contract management policies; Scheduling, coordinating, receiving, and greeting visitors; providing telephone reception services to the general public and/or staff; Formatting and preparing reports, letters, memos, forms, labels, agendas, requests for proposals, news releases, contracts or other correspondence; Organizing and maintaining various filing systems and manuals; scanning documents for archival purposes; Assisting in maintaining departmental web pages, preparing and posting documents to website; Assisting with creating or disseminating documents or projects as needed; Supporting special projects for each division as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required to be successful are:
Strong written and oral communication skills Strong customer service skills Minimum Qualifications include:
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of a baccalaureate degree Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in coordination of departmental activities, or any combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job Ability to work on site a minimum four (4) work days per week Preferred candidates may possess the following:
Experience with a range of content management and database software systems Coordination of multiple divisions in an organization or a multi-site operation Fluency in Spanish or Amharic The hourly wage for this position is expected to be between $28.
70 - $33.
91 and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
