Responsibilities
The Cancer Care Services Navigator is responsible for coordination of care across the continuum; education/provision of information and support for clients and patients; facilitation of decision making; advocacy and ultimately improved throughput and patient satisfaction. The navigator support the individual/significant others throughout the entire cancer experience, from point of entry (which is variable) through follow-up and continued care. This position will support the goal of Washington Adventist Hospital being distinguished as the preferred provider of Cancer Care in the Maryland region.
This position is responsible for the overall coordination of clinical services for the individual as well as the physician, outreach activities to community services, and development of work processes (data base establishment, data collection, outcomes reporting, awareness building, marketing, process improvement, throughput and evaluation) and continuous quality improvement around these, to achieve the ultimate goals of improved patient experience, and improved physician satisfaction with cancer care services.
Qualifications
A master s degree in nursing, business administration or specialty health field. (BSN, with OCN and transferable experience considered).
5 years of experience at the staff level in oncology or a related health care field.
Evidence of progressively responsible experience in autonomous roles.
Clinical background.
Experience in program development and deployment.
Developmental style, which includes collaboration, coaching, mentoring, listening, participative decision-making, negotiating and team building skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Tact and positive demeanor.
Ability to establish and maintain rapport with physicians and organizational personnel.
Financial management skills associated with planning, budgeting and control of resources.
Ability to plan, develop, implement and administer health related programs.
Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the organization s mission and values.
Ability to work autonomously, establishing benchmarks for success, and reporting against these.
Work Schedule
Full time days no weekends
