Position
Summary:
The ideal candidate must apply technical and practical knowledge of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals and be capable of assuming responsibility to create advanced robotic instruments used in surgical applications that meet reliability, schedule, cost, and quality goals.
The candidate needs to be able to identify and develop necessary relationships with sales, marketing, management, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and engineering as well as vendors and outside technical resources.
The tasks the candidate is responsible for are often non-routine and unstructured, requiring creative solutions.
This position will report to the VP of Research and Development.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Major areas of responsibility will be to apply current skills and use up-to-date technologies to complete projects as part of the development cycle including:
Development of a Robotic Surgical System demonstrating high dexterity and intuitive motor control Using best practices to meet system requirements for strength, dexterity, reliability and energy efficiency Design of an intuitive motor control system using microcontrollers, input devices, and high torque miniature motors Complete CAD software drawing 3D and 2D drawings following R and D Department CAD drawing standard Building prototype with 3D printer and other tools Evaluating the design with software and hardware Performance analysis and testing
Qualifications:
3-5
years of experience in robotic system design and development.
MS in Mechanical Engineering or Robotic Engineering equivalent (minimum) Concentration in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning desired.
Minimum 3 years public or consumer product design experience.
Experience hours using SolidWorks/ProE, CAD Systems.
Experience with robotic control system microprocessors Experience with small, high torque motors Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices Strong communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of basic electrical systems Knowledge of plastic material properties and manufacturing processes is a plus.
Possesses and demonstrates skills to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Possesses and demonstrates a frequent use and application of engineering principles theories, concepts, and techniques.
Experience with document control configuration management.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
